Change Acceleration Process (CAP)The Change Acceleration Process (CAP) is a change process used at GE. 1. Leading ChangeStart with a senior champion who will lead the change process. Without senior support, many change efforts die. Management commitment is what makes change work. 2. Creating A Shared NeedGive compelling reason to change that makes sense to all stakeholders. Give as much hard evidence for this as possible. The need for change must be greater than resistance for a forward motion. 3. Shaping a VisionDevelop a clear vision of the future state that creates a powerful pull and motivates everyone in the right direction. Ensure everyone understands and buys into it. 4. Mobilizing CommitmentGet commitment from all stakeholders who are needed for support of the change (and whose opposition would hinder the change). 5. Making change lastOnce the change is implemented, work to ensure there is no going back. Leverage early wins. Share best practice and learnings. Integrate with the rest of the organization. 6. Monitoring processMeasure real change and the benefits gained. Ensure benchmarks are set and achieved. Ensure accountability for these. 7. Changing Systems and StructuresEnsure management processes and structures are aligned with the change to ensure it continues and is not dragged back by managers who are motivated by old rewards.
