Quality Management
According to ISO8402:1994, Quality Management is:
'All activities of the
overall management function that determine the Quality Policy objectives
and responsibilities and implement them by means such as Quality Planning,
Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement within the
Quality System.'
A simpler view is that it is management of quality--that is, an
organized approach to ensure that we meet our promises. 'Make a promise,
keep a promise' as they say. Also 'know what you're getting into'--one of
the critical causes of quality management failure is trying to do to much
by reaching beyond the true capability of the system.
